English for Information Technology
English for Information Technology (English for IT) is designed to be useful for any student who is interested in learning more about the world of computers in English. This should include every AGU student, because in the 21st Century computers are fundamental to all study, not only in the Department of Computer Engineering.
The aim of English for IT is for students to learn fundamental vocabulary about how people use computers and computer systems. The course builds on the knowledge that everybody has about very basic concepts such as: what computers are, and how we use them in our everyday lives and in our studies. At the end of this course, students will be well-placed to face the rapidly changing world of Information Technology, in English. Furthermore, they zwill be better-placed to undertake study in English at the Faculty level, not only in Computer Engineering but in all subjects.
Assessment: 100% Final Examination
In the examination, students will demonstrate understanding of basic concepts and knowledge of key vocabulary in English which they will have learned by careful week-by-week, and day-by-day, study.
To have a realistic chance of passing this course, students will need to preview and review each successive lesson in good time.
