AGU and International English.
English is not the language of Britain, or of America, it is the language of the World. We should not forget that English is used in everyday life by billions of people; not only by Americans and Australians, or British people, and by people in other countries where English is the first language, but also by hundreds of millions of people who have learned English (like you) as a second language. In business, if a Swedish company speaks, or writes emails to, a Brazilian supplier it will be in English. If somebody from West Africa makes friends with somebody from Vietnam they will probably speak in English. If people from all over the world write comments on YouTube videos, most will be in English.
What about Spelling?
English spelling can vary from country to country: in the US they write ‘meter’; in the UK they write ‘metre’ – both are correct. Similarly,‘color’ and ‘colour’. And there are many more examples. At AGU the English we teach is International English.
What about Pronunciation?
Since the English we teach at AGU is International English, then English pronunciation is also international. Some English users sound more Indian, or American, or Nigerian, or Australian, or more Turkish, etc. However, what is important is how clearly you can make your self understood you really do not have to sound just like a person who was born in an English-speaking country.
